چکیده
Abstract In this paper, the design of non-uniform circular antenna arrays of isotropic radiators with optimum side lobe level reduction is investigated. Two global evolutionary optimization methods (namely; the biogeography based optimization and the self-adaptive differential evolution) are used to determine an optimum set of weights and positions that provide a radiation pattern with optimum side lobe level reduction with the constraint of a fixed major lobe beamwidth. The results obtained from these two evolutionary are compared with those obtained using the Matlab function Fmincon which uses a sequential quadratic programming (SQP) method. The comparison shows that the design of non-uniform circular antenna arrays using SQP method provides a side lobe level reduction that is comparable to that obtained using global stochastic optimization methods.

Design of Non-uniform Circular Antenna Arrays Using Firefly Algorithm for Side Lobe Level Reduction
A design problem of non-uniform circular antenna arrays for maximum reduction of both the side lobe level (SLL) and first null beam width (FNBW) is dealt with. This problem is modeled as a simple optimization problem. The method of Firefly algorithm (FFA) is used to determine an optimal set of current excitation weights and antenna inter-element separations that provide radiation pattern with m...

In this manuscript, higher-order Orbital Angular Momentum (OAM) modes and parameters affecting vortex in the radiation pattern have been studied. A uniform circular array resonating at 10 GHz frequency is formed using eight identical rectangular patch antennas. Three uniform circular arrays are analyzed, simulated, and fabricated for OAM modes 0, +1, and -1 respectively. The higher-order OAM mo...
متن کاملSynthesis of Antenna Arrays of Maximum Directivity for a Specified Sidelobe Level
Linear and planar antenna arrays are synthesized to have maximum directivity for a specified sidelobe level. The directivity is maximized subject to a given SLL. The beamwidth and the zeros of array factor are studied as well as the directivity. Maximum directivity-arrays are compared through some examples with super-directive, uniform, Dolph-Chebyshev and Riblet-Chebychev arrays to find a comp...
